DocSynch stands for Document Synchronization. It is a plugin for the editor jEdit and allows you to remotely edit your documents together. You can call it Pair Programming Plugin or Extreme Programming Tool if you want. All you need is your favourite IRC server, because DocSynch is running on top of IRC, as a so-called bot.

A similar standalone tool is SubEthaEdit, formerly called Hydra. I currently do not know of any other freely available tools.
